What we're thankful for.

Ourdoor dining space under a pergola with wine, cheese, and grapes, ready to share with family and friends.

The world is a beautiful and amazing place. Sometimes we forget that. It is easy to get caught up in the trending political climates and one sided narratives circulating the world as of lately. We often fail to give ourselves the space to take a breath, relax, and reflect on all the wonderful things that go well in our lives. We all have the power to craft our lives and the opportunities and roads which we can choose from. We are certainly thankful for the surface level items that grace the pages when asked, such as our relationships, shelter, and means. We are also grateful for the opportunity to engage in a field we enjoy and we know brings joy to others. I wanted to know more, though, so I took a survey of some of our team to find out what they were truly thankful for.

I started out by interviewing chief Robert who responded that he is grateful for having clarity on his life's purpose and for the opportunities to share his experiences and skills with others. Through his jobs as a father, husband, mentor, coach, and friend, he endeavors to guide others to crate their own opportunities and experiences. He is also thankful for the support from his community of family, friends, and colleagues who appreciate his efforts.

The newest member of the Sierra crew is Dan. His take on thankfulness comes from a deep-rooted goal for his future. Dan says, "I'm thankful for having a good job that can help me more quickly reach my goal of starting my own farm." He's also hoping that the exercise he gets on his farm will allow him to indulge in another passion of his: consuming copious amounts of apple cider donuts.

Stephan, our job site foreman and world-traveler, is thankful to be fortunate enough to be able to enjoy life. "Although I may not have everything I'd like to have, I am grateful that I am enjoying myself," he says. He does this all the while working towards achieving what he wants in life.

Mike, who stops at nothing to learning and expanding his skill set, reflects on not only last year, but of challenges in general. "I'm thankful for a good laugh with friends and being able to find the positives in life, even in tough times."

I, myself (Chris, Content Manager @ Sierra) am thankful for the opportunity to use my skills to show off the stunning work that the rest of the Sierra crew does. I’m also grateful for the feeling I get when I come through the other side of doing something I wasn’t sure I was capable of doing. Whether you call it "trial by fire", "fake it 'til you make it," or just giving it one hell of a try, there's something to be said about operating outside of the comfort zone. Sure, there are sometimes failures, but you learn and move on. I've been there. But I've also reaped the rewards. I’m thankful for those lessons learned.

The crew here at Sierra Landscape Management are sure you have many things to be thankful for. In the end, we are thankful that we get to share our passion for creating nature-inspired outdoor living spaces for families all over northern New Jersey. These spaces are environments that allow families to gather together, create new memories, and share what they're thankful for. We appreciate the ability to not only have passion in our careers, but to be able to be part of a team that creates the space for us to explore and grow as people. In the beautiful world we live in, we could all use a little more connection, meaning, and nature.

 Happy Thanksgiving.
